In a recent announcement, Taller Puertorriqueño, a cornerstone of the city’s Hispanic cultural landscape, revealed the appointment of two new members to its board: Eric Diaz and Eric Cortes. The addition of these seasoned professionals underscores Taller’s commitment to advancing its mission of preserving, developing, and promoting Puerto Rican arts and culture within the vibrant tapestry of Philadelphia.
Eric Diaz brings a wealth of legal expertise and business acumen to the table. As the Founder of LareDiaz, Diaz has spent the past 25 years empowering clients to achieve their business objectives. With a background in law from NYU School of Law’s Graduate Tax Program, Diaz has navigated the intricacies of contracts and deals, catering to a spectrum of clients ranging from large corporations to small businesses. His role as Outside General Counsel positions him as a strategic ally for businesses seeking comprehensive legal guidance without the burden of overhead costs. Diaz’s dedication to providing practical solutions and his prowess as a negotiator make him a valuable asset to Taller Puertorriqueño’s board.
On the other hand, Eric Cortes brings a wealth of experience in communications and marketing, particularly within the Hispanic community. With over a decade of expertise, Cortes has developed national marketing strategies and spearheaded social media campaigns for a diverse range of organizations, including notable entities like Visit Philadelphia and the American Diabetes Association. His remarkable contributions, including his pivotal role in the 2020 Census campaign, have earned him prestigious accolades, solidifying his reputation as a leader in the field. Cortes’s commitment to community engagement and his ability to harness the power of digital platforms align perfectly with Taller Puertorriqueño’s mission of fostering intercultural understanding and empowerment.
Eric Cortes expressed his enthusiasm for joining Taller Puertorriqueño’s board, highlighting the organization’s pivotal role in his own journey: “When I was first introduced to Taller Puertorriqueño in 2006, I could not have imagined being elected onto their board of directors today. The organization granted me an opportunity as my first job out of college, so I am excited to pay it forward.”
These appointments come at a significant juncture for Taller Puertorriqueño, as the organization celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Additionally, amidst a transition in leadership with the departure of Executive Director Nasheli J. Ortiz González, the board remains steadfast in its commitment to guiding Taller forward. Erikka Goslin, Taller’s Associate Director, assumes the role of Deputy and Interim Director, ensuring continuity in operations as the search for a new Executive Director commences.
