John Sabatina is a real estate lawyer, a leader in the Northeast Philadelphia neighborhood, and the new representative of the Register of Wills office, promising to digitize will records and provide efficient service to city residents.
The experienced Democrat garnered the support of the majority of Philadelphia residents in the November general elections, defeating Linwood Holland, a leader in the 35th electoral district of the Republican Party.
Sabatina has marked each step with determination. He considers himself qualified to serve as Register of Wills, possessing a strong track record of public service and a deep understanding of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
As a compassionate and qualified attorney, he is willing and committed to providing efficient service to those fulfilling the last wishes of their loved ones during a challenging time. “I am eager to bring my experience and commitment to public service to the position of Register of Wills, and I will be dedicated to making the office more efficient, accessible, and responsive to the needs of the people of Philadelphia.”

Sabatina is also focused on maintaining the highest level of professionalism and integrity in the office and improving services through the use of the latest technology to better serve the community.
A career marked by hard work
Sabatina’s career is defined by knowledge and hard work. After serving honorably in the United States Army, he built a career in estate law, amassing over 30 years of experience in this field.

Sabatina & Associates P.C focuses on the Greater Philadelphia metropolitan region, covering areas of administrative and election law, civil practice, collections, child support, divorce, child custody, general practice, estates, residential real estate, testamentary powers, and successions, as well as zoning, planning, and land use.
In addition to the support of Philadelphia residents and organizations, Sabatina also received the endorsement of the Philadelphia Metal Trades. “I will work tirelessly to promote policies that support working families and ensure that all residents have opportunities.”.

The Register of Wills is an elected position responsible for issuing marriage licenses and preserving marriage records since 1915, proving the validity of wills, letters of administration when a Philadelphia resident dies without a will, maintaining records of wills, inventories of assets, and related documents. It acts as an agent for the filing and payment of inheritance taxes and keeps records of the Orphans’ Court.
The Register of Wills office also guides individuals through the probate process but does not provide legal advice, as this is the responsibility of an attorney. As of January 2024, Sabatina will succeed Tracey Gordon in this role.
