The interesting conference about Open Enrollment opened the event Latina Summit 2020 organized by Hispanic Media with the support of Independence Blue Cross (IBX). The presentation was held Friday 13 on Zoom by Raul Aquino, bilingual Insurance Broker, representing Independence with experience in New Jersey and Pennsylvania communities. The informative event was host by Lina Gomez, Vice President of Operations at Hispanic Media.
Aquino explained that Open Enrollment is the time when individuals and families can enroll for health insurance for the upcoming year in case they do not have it or want to change for better options. He outlined the advantages of choosing the Independence Blue Cross plans because it offers smarter and better health care with the largest network of doctors in the region.
The representative said they have the best options according to your budget, including a program where you do not have to pay anything in order to see a doctor at any time. The options also include a modern app that helps people make the right decisions for health improvement.
Open Enrollment began November 1st and ends January 15th, 2021. Normally it finishes on December 1st but this year an additional month was added.
Within the spectrum of plans offered for the Open Enrollment, Aquino highlighted the most popular option: The Keystone Health Plan East HMO Proactive. Under this plan, you can visit a doctor that is in the Keystone Health Plan network but first, it is necessary to select a Primary Care Physician (PCP) who is going to refer you to a specialist.
Also, Medicare plans were widely explained in the presentation. This the federal health plan which is designed for US citizens or residents, aged over 65. However, it can also include people under 65 with certain disabilities. It is divided into four parts: Hospital Insurance, Medical Insurance, Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drugs.
It is important to consider that enrollment periods for Medical Advantage (MA) and Prescription Drugs plans (PDP) lasts seven months. That is, three months before you turn 65, the month you turn 65 and three months after that date.
