According to the Russian minister, the US special envoy for Venezuela, Elliot Abrams, does not hide that his work is not the search for a peaceful settlement to the crisis in the Latin American country.

At the same time, the Russian Foreign Minister confirmed that “the US is planning to buy light weapons, mortars, air-defense systems and other arms” soon to be sent to countries near Venezuela.
As reported by Lavrov, the transport of such weapons would be carried out with the help of “an airline from one of the post-Soviet states absolutely loyal to Washington,” in reference to the Ukraine Government.
“Of course we see these intentions and many countries, including Venezuela’s neighbors, see them too. Brazil and Colombia have declared that they will not support military intervention, “said the minister.
He added that “if the neighbors of Venezuela keep their word and remain firmly in that position, the US plans will not materialize.”
“I trust that the absolute rejection, I would say universal, in the world, to the armed solutions will cool Washington hot heads, although there are some of them that nothing can stop them.” he said.
