A believer in immigration policy, who has the construction of a fence at the southern border as a prime concern, has been named by President Trump as the next director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), an agency that had been headless since Ron Vitiello’s retirement in April.
” I am pleased to inform all of those that believe in a strong, fair and sound Immigration Policy that Mark Morgan will be joining the Trump Administration as the head of our hard working men and women of ICE”, Trump said on Twitter.
I am pleased to inform all of those that believe in a strong, fair and sound Immigration Policy that Mark Morgan will be joining the Trump Administration as the head of our hard working men and women of ICE. Mark is a true believer and American Patriot. He will do a great job!

The president described Morgan as a “true believer” and patriot, and predicted that “he will do a great job” at the head of the institution.
A career FBI officer, Morgan was the head of the U.S. Border Patrol during the final months of former President Barack Obama’s administration (2009-2017).
In a Washington Post interview last January, Morgan criticized Democrats who oppose the construction of a border wall with Mexico, considering that many of these same legislators had supported similar measures in the past.
“The reason it was approved on a bipartisan front is because it was needed, and now, because we call it a wall, it´s immoral. Really? That´s what we’re talking about now,” he regreted.
