This is the second time in the United States that an attempted coup is mentioned, and this time comes from President Donald Trump himself who has said that the investigation of the alleged Russian plot was an attempt to remove him from office.
Trump assured yesterday that he favors the Department of Justice investigation of this hypothesis, because it is not tolerable that political groups may take shortcuts because their disagreements with the guiding lines of the government.
The president said that the investigation of the so-called Russian plot, led by special prosecutor Robert Mueller, “was an illegal investigation. It was started illegally. Everything about it was crooked. This was an attempted coup and we beat them, “Trump said Wednesday, shortly before leaving for Texas, where he plans to participate in several events.
The president said that, despite the fact that the investigation was carried out by people who “truly hated” him, the investigation has not found evidence that his 2016 campaign colluded with the Kremlin or that he himself committed a crime of obstruction of justice.
“What they did was treason, what they did was terrible, what they did was against to the Constitution,” said the President.
The first time someone talked about ousting in the Trump administration was “an official of the United States government” who published anonymously in The New York Times last year.
The article became the most talked about in the world press and corresponded with the publication of fragments of a book by journalist Bob Woodward, in which it is suggested that high officials of the White House have been involved in an “administrative coup” to protect the nation from the president´s actions.
President Trump restated that he had not read the Mueller report and said he has no interest in doing so, since; he has many other issues to deal with.
“As far as I’m concerned, I do not care about the Mueller’s report, I’ve been totally exonerated. No collusion, no obstruction.” And he added that he had to concern himself with China, North Korea, Venezuela and many other world problems.
