The rise in violence and crime that is plaguing the city of Philadelphia makes no distinction in th the age of its targets. Now a 4-year-old boy is the new victim of this seemingly endless whirlwind of violence. According to local reports the child was shot dead early Thursday during a home invasion robbery at a North Philly house on Lambert Street.
The victim´s father called 911 and said there was a home invasion and that someone had shot his son around 1 a.m.
When the pólice arrved, they found a father carrying a younger child who told them that a 4-year-old child was shot upstairs,
“The child was found upstairs in a bedroom,” acting Police Commissioner Christine Coulter said. “He was unconcious and unresponsive when officers took him to the hospital.”
The man said he was at home with the 4-year-old and a younger child , while their mom was at work, when the invasion happened.. The youger child was not hurt during the incident.
Although the father reported the incident as a home invasion and robbery.there were no signs of struggle or forced entry. This fact has led the police to get a search warrant on the house.
“He reported that it was a home invasion robbery when he called it into police radio and to the first responding officers,” Coulter told reporters.
According to the pólice, the father will be questioned in order to get a clearer picture of what hapenned.
“We don’t have any viable flash at this time regarding the person involved, but hopefully as the boy’s father is questioned at Homicide, we will be able to get a clearer picture as to what exactly happened,” the Commissioner said. “The child was found upstairs, in a bedroom, shot.”
No arrests were made while investigators are working to get a description of the shooter.
