Hispanic Media and El Sol Latino Newspaper will host an event dedicated to honoring excellence and highlighting leaders whose work has significantly transformed the civic and community life of Philadelphia.
The ceremony, titled “Honoring Excellence – People of the Year 2025,” will take place on Thursday, December 11, from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., at the prestigious Intercontinental Club in New York.
The event, organized in conjunction with the 127th Annual Dinner of The Pennsylvania Society, to be held on December 13 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York, is sponsored by HACE and Congreso.
Each year, The Pennsylvania Society brings together political, business, community, and cultural leaders from across the country to celebrate outstanding careers and strengthen collaborative ties across sectors.
Within this context, Hispanic Media and El Sol Latino Newspaper have become essential platforms for highlighting the contributions of the Latino community to the development of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and the nation. This year, three distinguished public figures will be honored for their commitment, leadership, and dedication to public service: Councilwoman Quetcy Lozada, State Representative Danilo Burgos, and City Commissioners President Omar Sabir.
Quetcy Lozada, from Philadelphia’s 7th District, is a prominent Latina whose name resonates strongly throughout the city. Her work has focused on strengthening the neighborhoods where she was born, raised, and has built her entire public career. She has become one of the strongest voices of Latino representation in Philadelphia.
Danilo Burgos, a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, has proven to be a committed legislator, a tireless advocate, and a strong defender of family values, education, and economic development. As the first Dominican elected to the state’s General Assembly, he represents a historic achievement for the Latino community.
Omar Sabir, President of the Philadelphia City Commissioners, is recognized for his work combating voter apathy and educating communities about the importance of civic engagement. A husband and father of seven, he is a lifelong Philadelphian who has dedicated his career to ensuring that all voices are heard in the democratic process.
