¡Vamos! We’re against the clock and almost late for school…grab your backpack!
Our team in region D is in the midst of a comms conundrum, can you jump on a call in 5 min?
Wait, there’s a PTA meeting tonight?
Mi amor, my brother’s birthday is on Saturday, should we cook steak or chicken on the grill?
These and so many other scenarios once defined my daily life as a working mom in a familia Latina – until the COVID-19 virus altered life as we know it, indefinitely shifting the backdrop to the four walls of my home. ¡Caramba! Who would have thought that the very things that once drove us crazy would become what we long for most? Connections with friends, family, even strangers are all things we took for granted until it all changed.
Unaware of the COVID-19 pendulum shift that awaited me, I was holiday shopping in Miami last December, carefully researching toy reviews and price points, spending late hours answering emails after dinner and washing matching outfits for my boys ahead of Saturday’s birthday party. All of these made ever easier by an overflowing (but fashionable) handbag, my favorite heels and a trusted smartphone. The season seemed to be going well until my iPhone 6 fatally fell down, thus prompting an unexpected need to look at our wireless options. As one of four adults living in a household with two boys under the age of 6, this busy mom was in urgent need of calendar access!
A reliable device and network are crucial for any mom holding it all down, but faced with so many options, I hade to be efficient in narrowing the choices. Despite the busy lifestyle, demanding career and household responsibilities, my mobile needs were relatively simple: awesome network coverage, a well-priced top-tier device, amazing customer service, and was it too much to ask to have a few bonus options thrown in the mix? It seemed simple enough to me.
I was lucky to find all of those things, and more, by making the switch to T-Mobile – something I was opposed to initially due to the “anxiety” that comes with switching. But alas, T-Mobile’s customer service was on point – from the store teams to the customer service reps with whom I worked quickly and easily the transition of each line of my family’s plan to their network (four lines in total, and all getting the brand new iPhone for the best price on the market). It was also perfect timing to have Netflix (and now Quibi) subscriptions thrown in for free…especially in light of the indefinite shelter-at-home orders in place.
This Mother’s Day felt different from other years, but from one mom to another, with more reliance on mobile technology than ever, I urge you to prioritize even the simplest needs to ensure connection. Seek out providers, services and products that will meet you more than halfway and can go the extra mile to show they care…not just on Mother’s Day, but always.
Veronica Nadal is a hard-working Latina mother of two who lives in Miami, Florida with her husband and extended family members. After putting off a mobile provider switch for some time, she finally found new options when her old phone broke. Taking advantage of T-Mobile’s amazing offers, she was able to transfer all four lines from her previous provider to T-Mobile. She won credit for her old phones (even the iPhone 6!) and got score brand new iPhones for less than she paid before.
