Another unfortunate violent episode cast a shadow over the city on Thursday. This time a 14-year teenage girl was shot and critically injured while playing jump rope in Southwest Philadelphia, authorities said.
The investigations on the case have not yet revealed who opened fire against the girl. The incident occurred before 7:30 p.m. Thursday on the 2500 block of South Dewey Street. The shooter apparently fled the scene on foot
A teenage girl playing with a jump rope on a Philadelphia street was shot and critically injured when someone opened fire, authorities said.
The victim was shot twice on her lower back and was taken to a hospital, where she was listed in critical but stable condition. Her name has not been released.
No other injuries were reported in the shooting, which remains under investigation. It is not clear if the teenage girl was the shooter’s intended target.
No arrests have been made.
