Del visionario director Robert Eggers, llega «The Northman», una epopeya llena de acción que sigue a un joven príncipe vikingo en su búsqueda para vengar el asesinato de su padre. Con un elenco estelar que incluye a Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Björk y Willem Dafoe.
Desde que en 2016 lanzó su primera película, Eggers ha estado en la mira de los cinéfilos. Algunos críticos ya han publicado sus reacciones de esta película.
Eggers saltó a la fama mundial con La Bruja, su primer largometraje, estrenado en 2015 en Sundance y distribuido por A24. La cinta contaba la historia de una familia religiosa en Nueva Inglaterra, y destacó por su actuación la argentina-británica Anya Taylor-Joy, quien ha vuelto a trabajar con Eggers. La segunda película del director fue El Faro, que también obtuvo la aprobación de la crítica, en parte gracias a las actuaciones de Robert Pattinson y Willem Dafoe.

A diferencia de sus dos anteriores trabajos, es inmensa. El actor Ethan Hawke la comparó con Apocalipsis Now de Francis Ford Coppola. La realización de The Northman costó 90 millones de dólares.
Eggers trabajó junto al escritor islandés Sjón para adaptar la historia original de la que se basó William Shakespeare para su clásico «Hamlet».
