A soldier was killed and two others were injured during a military training exercise. The incident happened on Friday, April 22 at the Yakima Training Center in central Washington state, according to army officials.
The Yakima Herald-Republic reported that Army PFC. Joseph Marquez, 20, of Dover, Delaware, died in an apparent single-vehicle accident.
In addition, the 8th Squadron, 1st US Calvary, said on Facebook that the Blackhawk Squadron announced the passing of one of our own PFC Joseph Alejandro Marquez. The post described him as a faithful friend to his comrades, and a loyal soldier to his nation.
Marquez was a member of the 7th Infantry Division’s 2-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team headquartered at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, according to a news release from the infantry division.
About the injured soldiers, they were treated and released from Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Their identities were withheld by the military.
