MTV reveló las esperadas nominaciones para los Video Music Awards (VMA) 2022, con artistas que han impactado la industria de la música. Jack Harlow, Kendrick Lamar y Lil Nas X lideran las nominaciones de este año, mientras que Bad Bunny figura entre los candidatos a artista del año.
Con seis nominaciones les siguen: Doja Cat y Harry Styles, y Billie Eilish, Drake, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift y The Weeknd con cinco cada uno.

Por su parte, Madonna, reina los VMA como la más más premiada en la historia con 20 victorias, se convierte en la única artista en tener nominaciones en cada una de las cinco décadas de los VMA (1980-2020), ya que obtiene su nominación número 69 por Madame X.
Entre los artistas hispanos nominados también está Rosalía, en la categoría de mejor colaboración por «La fama» con The Weeknd. En otras categorías compiten Anitta por «Envolver», Bad Bunny por «Tití me preguntó», Becky G y Karol G por «Mamiii», Daddy Yankee por «Remix», Farruko por «Pepas» y J Balvin y Skrillex por «In Da Ghetto».
