Goya Foods Inc., the largest Hispanic owned food company in the United States, will donate 10,000 pounds of food to families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in Philadelphia. The 10,000 pounds will be distributed through the #WeCare campaign, initiated by El Sol Latino, a Hispanic media company in Philadelphia.
“COVID-19 has dramatically impacted the livelihood of so many people and we are grateful for the leadership and collaboration of The City of Philadelphia and El Sol Latino to provide families and children with nourishing food during these uncertain times,” said Bob Unanue, President of Goya Foods.
Through the #GoyaGives program, Goya has donated over 500,000 pounds of food and 20,000 protective masks to organizations, hospitals, and healthcare providers nationwide since the start of the pandemic, and will continue to do so as the need arises.
The significant donation from the Goya Gives program was recognized by Hispanic Media President and CEO, Ricardo Hurtado.
“We are grateful that in this time of need we can bring good news to our community. Through the #WeCare program, our company has donated 30% of our inventory to support our clients and provide up-to-date information on the pandemic. Thanks to Goya Foods we will be able to provide food to hundreds of families,” said Ricardo Hurtado.
