California Representative Devin Nunes has reminded us of his dedication to serving Donald Trump’s agenda by means of a lawsuit. He has sued Twitter and some users for $250 million accusing the social platform of censoring conservative views, defamation and negligence. Ironically, he is the sponsor of a bill Discouraging Frivolous Lawsuits Act, but he wants to be the face of conservative response to criticism and he feels comfortable in that role because he was doing that as the chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. As such, he made frequent trips to the white House to keep the president informed of what was going on in the committee. And he did that in daylight under the amazed stares of the reporters who covered Congress, so he is still eager to be the protector of Trump’s policies. He may not win the lawsuit, but he will force Twitter and a number of users to defend themselves and spend a lot of money and time.
In 2017 he temporarily stepped aside after he was accused of improperly disclosing committee deliberations to the White House. Nunes alleges that Twitter “by its actions, intended to generate and proliferate false and defamatory statements about Plaintiff in order to influence the outcome of the 2018 Congressional election and interfere with his important investigation of corruption…” One would think that he was investigating the 2016 election to find out how the Russians aided Donald Trump. But his investigation was absurdly dedicated to “the corruption of the Clinton campaign and alleged Russian involvement.” That last statement is contradicted by all the evidence that has been gathered so far by Mueller, through Michael Cohen’s testimony, Manafort, and the indictments of several Russians who interfered in the election on behalf of Trump. Impeach Nunes, Trump’s faithful servant.
