The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) 2022 World Cup qualifyings ended. Three countries got their ticket to Qatar (Canada, Mexico and US), while another one has to play against New Zealand for the final spot.

Canada qualified to the 2022 Qatar Soccer World Cup for the first time in 36 years. The North American country topped the Concacaf final round with 28 points, winning half of them. The last (and only) time Canada played the World Cup tournament was in Mexico 1986, where they lost all the three games played.
After an irregular qualifying campaign, Mexico were the second seed in the Concacaf standings. Led by the Argentinean Gerardo “Tata” Martino, a coach with experience in Paraguay, Argentina, Spain and the United States, Mexico got the same points as the Canadians. Without a lot of bright, “El Tri” won three of their last five games to claim the second spot.

United States were one of the biggest absentees in the 2018 Russia World Cup, but they managed to return this time. With some interesting young players like Christian Pulisic (Chelsea, England) and Weston McKennie (Juventus, Italy), the U.S. collected 25 points in the Concacaf qualifying stage.
Costa Rica was able to reach the playoff spot thanks to a second round in which they garnered 19 of a possible 21 points and only conceded two goals, which allowed them to overtake Panama for fourth place in the standings. They will face New Zealand in June.

Canada, Mexico and the United States will know their rivals in the World Cup draw, which will take place on Friday, April 1.
