A veteran politician, who plays as libero in the Democratic leagues, joined the progressive options for the 2020 presidential elections with the intention to get out President Donald Trump from the White House.
Bernie Sanders, a social activist who has been fighting for the Americans social security benefits, is also a Vermont State “independent” senator who will join the large group of Democrat tracks who want to replace Trump in the Executive Branch.
Sanders, a lawmaker who was born in New York in 1941, and who lives in Burligton, Chittenden County, Vermont, defines himself as a “Democratic socialist”. He made his nomination announcement in a public radio station interview in Vermont.
The senator has already competed in 2016 for the progressive nomination to the presidency in primaries that Hillary Clinton finally won.
“What I promise to do is, as I go around the country, is to take the values that all of us in Vermont are proud of, a belief in justice, in community, in grassroots politics, in town meetings”
“Three years ago, during our 2016 campaign, when we brought forth our progressive agenda we were told that our ideas were ‘radical’ and ‘extreme,” the senator explained last Tuesday in an email sent to his supporters and published by The New York Times.
This message refers to the need to apply new health, economic and educational policies, as well as combating climate change and raising taxes on wealthy Americans.
According to the New York newspaper, Sander added: “Well, three years have come and gone. And, as result of millions of Americans standing up and fighting back, all of these policies and more are now supported by a majority of Americans”.
