Hispanics are an important community that has contributed to the growth not only of Philadelphia but also of the country. They are voices filled with stories, achievements, preparation, culture, and recognition. A shining example is Andreína Martínez.
Martínez, a Latina who dreams big, became Miss Universe Dominican Republic 2022, and shared her story at “The Growth of Hispanics, The Storytelling of our Community,” an exclusive event organized by El Sol Latino Newspaper, a Hispanic Media product.
At the event, Martínez, with her charisma, elegance, intelligence, and determination, became an inspiration for Latinos and the audience, sharing anecdotes filled with achievements, obstacles, and triumphs.
Martínez, who arrived in the United States at the age of 13, without knowing the language and without her mother, overcame significant challenges to achieve her dreams. She believes that obstacles are inevitable in life, but being perseverant and resilient is key to overcoming them.
A notable Latina, Martínez is Miss Dominican Republic Universe and the second runner-up in the Miss Universe 2022. She holds two university degrees, worked in the New York Senate and the national Senate, supports underprivileged people in her country, and is now pursuing her passion for entertainment, cameras, television, film, and art.
She is an example of the valor and growth of the Latino community in Philadelphia and the United States.
Local leaders like Rochelle Bilal, Sheriff of Philadelphia, and representatives from El Concilio, Adonis Banegas, Executive Director; Janessa Rivera, Deputy Director; and Grace Castro, Marketing Manager, attended the event.
Other attendees included Lola Mananova, CEO and President of Aurora Home Care and Hospice; Luis Rodríguez, President and CEO of La Casa Dominicana de New Jersey; Vanessa Caracoza, Deputy Executive Director of PhillyVotes and President of ALPFA Philadelphia Chapter; Magdalis Melo, interior designer; Ariane Datil, presenter, and reporter; Bruce Datil, owner of Allstate Insurance Agency, among others.
Besides Martínez, Sheriff Bilal and presenter Ariane Datil also addressed the audience. Ricardo Hurtado, President & CEO of Hispanic Media, thanked the attendees, who learned about El Sol Latino’s work and the significant contribution of the Hispanic community in the region.
The emotional event, held at Time Out on Pine, located at 2840 One Rd, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19 006, started at 2 pm with a warm reception, followed by lunch, and continued with a captivating program, offering an unforgettable experience to the exclusive audience.
