After the latest attempt to end the government shutdown failed, it seems that the Democratic Party leaders have the upper hand and Trump has another issue to worry about in addition to his legal woes. According to Pelosi and Schumer, who spoke to the media outside the White House, the president had a temper tantrum and walked out of the room after Pelosi said no to his question about funding the Wall. The Republicans present at the meeting said that Trump did not slap the table as he departed which is the version the Democrats gave.
It is not difficult to imagine what is disturbing the president. We know from his past behavior that he holds women in contempt. For evidence we have the Access Hollywood tape in which he speaks of groping women stating: “I don’t even wait. And when you are a star they let you.” The news of that recording broke two day before his debate agains Hillary Clinton. Trump should have been disqualified at that point, and in fact, there were calls for his withdrawal from the ticket. Then we saw how he treated Senator Elizabeth Warren, calling her “Pocahontas,” because she claims to have Indian blood. He disrespected Hillary Clinton urging audiences at his rallies to call for her to be locked up.
And because he holds women in such low esteem it is not difficult to think that it rattles him to have to go face to face, hand to hand with Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House. She challenged him in that famous Oval Office meeting when she told him not to characterize the power she represents. Trump was unhappy. Now he knows that Speaker Pelosi is a serious contender across for him in the difficult dealings with the legislature.
