Special Counsel Robert Mueller testified before the Judiciary Committee of Congress for the 19th time. There are more than a few very important conclusions that can be reached after listening to Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Due to the legal constraints imposed by the Justice Department, and more specifically by the letter published a day prior to his appearance, he could not answer more than 100 questions. Mr. Mueller kept repeating during the hearing was that he wanted his 450 page report to speak for itself, but he did say yes or no, to some questions that were posed to him. When questioned about whether or not his report exonerated the president, he said no. And he said yes, when asked if the reason he could not indict the president because of the OLC–Office of Legal Counsel–rule that a sitting president cannot be indicted. The follow up question was: Can a president be indicted after he leaves office? Robert Mueller said yes. In Volume II of the Mueller report there are a dozen instances in which the president clearly seems to be obstructing the investigation, but Mueller could not bring himself to say “Trump committed a crime.” He left the facts at the door of Congress and trusted they would have the courage to seek impeachment. Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Ca) said that “we have a felon sitting in the White House.”
But it was not finished. After a short break Robert Mueller returned to the same room to answer questions from the Intelligence Committee. Rep Adam Schiff is the Chairman of that committee and he has been a persistent critic of Donald Trump. In his opening statement he said that Mueller had not been able to discover proof of a crime while investigating collusion. He said this is a story of greed and a desire not only to win but to make money. Rep Schiff reviewed all the persons convicted of lying from Mannafort to Michael Cohen. The report also tells us a story about lies, about the tower, about Director James Comey, about firing you Mr. Mueller, lies to the FBI , lies to this committee, lies to obstruct an investigation. It was a scheme to destroy everything, far more pernicious since this rot came from within. The deception continues,The president and his acolytes keep yelling no collusion. They say your report found no evidence of obstruction. and that the president was fully exonerated when in fact your report says the opposite. Worse than all the lies and the greed. When asked if he would take help from a foreign power to win an election, the president said yes. As Ranking Member Rep. Devin Nunes took the usual GOP tactic declaring the whole thing a waste of time. Schiff got Mueller to respond yes to a series of questions related to the president lying about building a tower in Moscow and other evidence the Russia wanted to help Trump win and committed federal crimes. That is all we need, really and Nancy Pelosi should be considering impeachment at this point.
