Councilwoman María Quiñones Sánchez, a Democrat by “baptism”, kept her seat in District 7 in Phiiladelplhia, winning with 11,495 votes that represented 99.53%, a victory that gives her the right to keep on fighting for the demands of the city and especially for Latinos.
Quiñones Sánchez with strength and character got the reelection practically without rivals.
The ten districts that conform the city of Philadelphia have representatives to the General Council and to them are added seven that are elected from a nominal list to be public servants.

At-large votes were focused on the re-elected Councilwoman Helen Gym, who was again the most voted and who is profiled as Jim Kenney’s successor.
District by District
The first thing to point out is that in none of the 10 districts there was a closed fight for the voters’ preference, the Democrats won all by wide margins.
In the District 1, after counting 100% of the votes, Mark F Squilla (Democrat) with 25,748 votes that made up 82.77% was victorious against his Republican opponent Daniel Orsino who obtained 5,308 clicks on electronic machines.
Then in District 2 Kenyatta Johnson took an 8-2 lead by defeating Republican rival Michael Bradley. The first candidate obtained 22,236 votes and the second one 5,525.
Things were no different in the other districts. In District 3, Jamie Gauthier won with 23.811 votes. In District 4, Curtis Jones Jr. won resoundingly with 24.745 votes. Darrell L. Clarke was also very popular in District 5 with 24,375 votes.
Bobby Henon did the same in District 6 by obtaining 11,733 votes. María Quiñones Sánchez in District 7 and Cindy Bass with 24,784 technically won alone in District 8.
In District 9, Cherelle L. Parker swept away with 25,151 votes and in District 10, the Republican Brian O’Neill won with 14,903 votes.
At-large City Council victories
The top five will occupy the same number of seats at the at-large City Council and all are Democrats. Helen Gym was again the most voted with 187,161 votes (15.31%); Isaiah Thomas 178,571 (14.60%); Katherine Gilmore Richardson 172,435 (14.10%); Derek S Green 172,264 votes (14.09%) and Allan Domb 169,395 votes (13.85%).

The two minority seats belong to Kendra Brooks of Working Families Party with 55,599 (4.55%) and will be repeated by Republican David Oh who got 49,700 votes.
