The Hispanic Heritage Month Gala, organized by Hispanic Media, once again highlighted Latino roots in Philadelphia, honoring distinguished figures from the social, business, cultural, and community sectors whose respected voices impact society.
PECO, an Exelon Company, sponsored this edition, which brought together and captivated the community in an exclusive evening presented by Jefferson.
The gala, hosted by Cata Pérez, Hispanic Media Host, alongside Isabel Sánchez and Miguel Martínez-Valle, journalists from Telemundo 62 and NBC 10, honored leaders and personalities from the community who have made significant contributions, inspired through their example, and championed Hispanic heritage.
These included Cynthia Figueroa, President and CEO of JEVS Human Services; Joseph Domínguez, President and CEO of Constellation (who was represented by his Vice President of Commercialization and Development, Jorge Acevedo); Juan López, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer of Independence Health Group; and Dr. Keith Leaphart, DO, MBA, Executive Vice President of Business and Director of Health Equity and Community Impact at Humana in Jefferson.
Also honored were Raquel M. Arredondo, Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education; Yocasta Lora, Associate State Director of Advocacy and Community Engagement at AARP Pennsylvania; and Matías Tarnopolsky, President and CEO of The Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts.
The recognitions continued with the Corporate of the Year award, given to PECO, led by President and CEO Dave Velázquez, for its outstanding service and contributions to the Latino community. The honorees also received proclamations from the City of Philadelphia.
During the vibrant gala, Omar Sabir, City Commissioner; María González, President of the Hispanic Association of Contractors & Enterprises (HACE); Martin Alfaro, Special Projects Coordinator at Hispanic Media; Vanessa Caracoza, Deputy Executive Director for the Office of the City Commissioners, among others, also took the stage.
Ricardo Hurtado, President & CEO of Hispanic Media, addressed the audience, recognizing the work of the community and its leaders, who have made significant contributions to the city and the nation.
The distinguished and well-established event, held at Live! Casino, 900 Packer Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19148, concluded with musical entertainment by Funk Salsa Urban and DJ Rumbero, along with the warm and lively camaraderie that characterizes the community.

La Hispanic Heritage Month Gala, organizada por Hispanic Media, volvió a enaltecer las raíces latinas en Philadelphia, en una nueva edición en la que fueron exaltadas distinguidas personalidades de los ámbitos social, empresarial, cultural y comunitario, que con sus respetadas voces causan impacto en la sociedad.
PECO, an Exelon Company invitó a esta nueva edición que reunió y cautivó a la comunidad en una exclusiva velada presentada por Jefferson.
En la gala, conducida por Cata Pérez, Hispanic Media Host, Isabel Sánchez y Miguel Martínez-Valle, periodistas de Telemundo 62 y NBC 10, fueron homenajeados líderes y personalidades de la comunidad, quienes han desempeñado una destacada labor, inspirado con su ejemplo e impulsado a la herencia hispana.
