]]> A Boeing 737 with 133 people on board crashed on Monday, March 21 in China, according to state media. Although the figures of deaths or injuries are still unknown, it’s believed there were no survivors.

The crash occurred in the southern province of Guangxi, near the city of Wuzhou in Teng county, according to China Central Television (CCTV). It sparked a fire on the side of a mountain. Rescuers went to the scene, said CCTV.

The crashed plane appeared to be flight MY5735 from Kunming to Guangzhou, according to FlightRadar24. The flight tracking website showed how the Boeing 737-89P rapidly lost speed after 0620 GMT before beginning a sharp descent. It stopped transmitting data in southwest Wuzhou.

About Boeing 737 and China Eastern

The twin-engine, single-aisle Boeing 737 is one of the world’s most popular short and medium-haul aircraft. China Eastern operates several versions of the popular aircraft, including the 737-800 and the 737 Max.

The airplane was part of the fleet of China Eastern since June 2015. It had been in service for six years.
