Highways, subways, bus terminals, railway stations, airports and emergency stations will now serve as an appendix to the Customs Office and in part will be the work of the Border Patrol, since TSA employees will have to collaborate on the southern border with the “contention” of the illegal migratory flow.

According to a CNN Wednesday news release, several hundred “Security Operations” personnel will go to the U.S.-Mexico border to detect and contain the transit of illegal immigrants.

 The Atlanta-based news company had access to an internal TSA e-mail, revealing the plan that would lead Transportation security workers to contribute to the tasks of the Customs Office.

Although the document states that collaboration will be temporary, it makes clear that it calls for the deployment of up to 175 law enforcement officers and “400 people from Security Ops” CNN reported, citing two sources and the internal e-mail.

The efforts will not initially include uniformed TSA inspectors at the airport, but the e-mail says that part of the TSA will be asked to contribute with “around 10 percent” of its workforce.

The security agency acknowledged in the e-mail that the movement responds to an “immediate need” and said it was accepting “some risk” of depleted resources in aviation security resources, CNN reported.

“There is now immediate need for more help from TSA as the SW border,” wrote a senior TSA official, Gary Renfrow, in an e-mail to the agency’s regional management, according to CNN. “The TSA has committed to support with 400 people from Security Ops” who will be deployed in groups “similar to support for past hurricanes”.

“We also understand that we are accepting some risks as we enter a very busy summer,” Renfrow wrote in the e-mail.

 The initial law enforcement teams will be drawn from six cities, CNN reported.
