State police are in search for the suspects, who carried out the feat at the Chase Bank located on Route 1 in South Brunswick around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26.

The exact amount of cash stolen is unknown, but it is estimated to be in the tens of thousands of dollars region.

Other thousands of dollars were scattered in the parking lot of the bank. Police officers spent some time collecting the cash to return it to the bank, authorities said.

Less than two minutes

Police believe the thieves used a stolen car with chains to remove the ATM from its platform, doing everything in 90 seconds. The stolen car was left at the scene and the suspects fled in a pickup truck.

All of that, combined with the fact that they were wearing hoods and gloves, leads them to believe it was a professional heist, law enforcement officials close to the investigation said.

No arrests had been made as of mid-afternoon Thursday, April 29. The police investigation is ongoing.
