In a joint effort to fight the pandemic Independence Blue Cross (Independence) and vybe urgent care (vybe) will be operating a COVID-19 vaccination site at Independence LIVE(1919 Market Street in Philadelphia), on the Independence Blue Cross campus.
The site will serve the Philadelphia residents who meet the City of Philadelphia’s eligibility guidelines, which now includes people 65 and older, and who have made an appointment.
Additionally, Independence and vybe are working on a focused campaign aimed to reach priority populations established by the City.
The vaccination site appointments for the general public are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Walk-ins will not be accepted. Independence and vybe will also be reaching out to eligible members or patients in Philadelphia to schedule them for appointments at Independence LIVE.
Vaccine administration is being coordinated by vybe at Independence LIVE according to the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention clinical standards. The site’s vaccine allocation is from the City.
As many vaccine clinics as possible
The announcement was celebrated by Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley. “In order to meet President Biden’s challenge to vaccinate the majority of Philadelphians by the summer, we need to open as many vaccine clinics throughout Philadelphia as possible, to hear that two trusted partners like vybe and Independence Blue Cross have partnered to offer vaccine is an exciting development that could help to end this pandemic.”
Peter Hotz, president and CEO of vybe urgent care expressed his optimism for the joint effort to open this vaccination site. “This is truly a time to be optimistic in the battle against COVID-19.
