Based in Philadelphia, PECO is the largest electric and natural gas utility company in Pennsylvania, supplying energy to nearly 1.7 million customers and over 545,000 natural gas customers in the southeastern part of the state. PECO, a company with more than 2,000 employees, is a subsidiary of Exelon Corporation, the largest fully regulated utility company in the country with over 10 million customers.

The purpose of this company is to promote smart energy to provide safe, reliable, affordable, and clean energy and energy services for all its customers and the communities it serves.

Under the leadership of Dave Velázquez, who serves as president and CEO, PECO maintains its commitment to delivering service with a culture of excellence. Velázquez oversees all the company’s operations, ensuring customer satisfaction and service reliability.

With a history of over 140 years of service in the Greater Philadelphia region, PECO, formerly known as Philadelphia Electric Company, was established in 1902, although its origins trace back to The Brush Electric Light Company of Philadelphia, founded in 1881, making it one of the largest and oldest utility companies in the United States, with roots in the work of Thomas Edison.

As inventions brought new conveniences, the population grew, and industry developed, PECO began its growth to meet the increasing demand from its customers. The history and evolution of the development, distribution, and consumption of electricity and natural gas suggest that the demand for both will continue to rise.

Given this premise, PECO positions itself as the steward of efforts to help its customers make the best decisions regarding energy use and focuses on leading by example as an environmental leader. The legacy of this company is one of innovation and a commitment to learning, which also represents a commitment to the people who make up its customer base.

The company’s electric service area covers the entire city of Philadelphia and Delaware County; most of Bucks, Chester, and Montgomery counties; and the southeastern part of York County. The natural gas service area covers Delaware County; most of Bucks, Chester, and Montgomery counties; and a portion of Lancaster County.

Discover More About the Hispanic Heritage Month Gala

Corporate of the Year en la Hispanic Heritage Month Gala
